a pair of aspiring filmmakers as they quit their jobs and turn a friend's ludicrous
idea into a movie.

Here ya go…Tea with Leo.
It was at the 12 Bar in London way back in December 2002 that me and Anna Phoebe first got together. Since then because of that ocean between us and all her running around with the likes of Jethro Tull, Roxy Music and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra we have had only a few occasions to perform together, but each time, well it's been real special.
And this here release is no exception. Recorded in London over the course of just two days it is indeed a fine example of what can happen when two truly gifted musicians stop sippin' tea and eating biscuits long enough to lay down a few tracks.

Recorded and mixed in just one afternoon at the Funhouse in NYC. This is my first solo release. Originally done up all DIY style and sold on the streets when I was busking this disc was eventually released by the good folks at HOLDEN RECORDS in both the UK and Europe. The Holden Release featured 11 studio tracks, and finished up with a truly special live version, of "A Hard Day in Manhattan" that was recorded in London at the 12 Bar and featured the mega-fine fiddle playing of the amazing Miss Anna Phoebe.

Believe it was the summer of 2003 when me and Paleface got to working up the tunes for the band that would become Just About to Burn. Several nights a week for hours on end we distilled them tunes down to what we thought was their bare essence. Come September Lil' Mo was brought in on the kit and the whole gang went to see Paul Kostabi @ Court Metrage Studio, NYC to make this record.
Course now prevailing winds being what they are, a trip to England, a bunch of NYC shows, and a Southern US run later I got to feeling like the third wheel and decided to beat feet. Even still the record is a real good listen.

live as “gritty guitar picking and homespunwisdom”. and
on “i’m ok, yer uk”, the proof is in the pudding.
recorded over the course of his last two runs over to the uk, breadfoot
rambles thru the six tracks offered. along the way he disses bush,
remembers his third grade crush and touches on 9/11 conspiracy theories.
oh, and yep, he does manage to shut up long enough to pick a few tunes.

Had the pleasure of being joined on stage for the last song of the evening
by the wonderfully talented, (yet chilly handed), Anna Phoebe. We had never
played this song together before, but I'll tell you what, I think this is
an awfully beautiful recording. Don't believe I ever realized just how much
sadness was in this tune.
